In a major development on the commercial front of Indian cricket, Muthoot Fincorp has bagged title sponsorship rights for India’s home cricket season in next two years. The deal will include all of India’s international and domestic cricket matches till 31 March 2028. The bid amount for the sponsorship is said to be proposed at a base value of ₹4.85 crore per match, claims Cricbuzz reports. The confirmed amount could be less than that as the tentative value of the deal is yet to be approved by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The deal will provide Muthoot Fincorp prominent brand visibility during home matches for India. The sponsorship is said to be linked with the name “Blue Muthoot”, linking the company brand name with that of Indian cricket team as well as India’s home cricket calendar.
For men, India will host around 35 international matches during the two-year cycle across all three formats. According to reports, the schedule features 10 Test matches, 12 ODIs and 13 T20 Internationals. By aligning itself with these matches, the sponsor will reach multiple formats and a diverse cricketing populace. With India’s home season attracting huge television and digital eyeballs, title sponsorship of this series remains an important commercial asset in any brand’s portfolio
Deal Covers Two Years
Sponsorship rights will remain in place through March 31, 2028, covering home seasons over that range. Apart from the international matches, the deal is also likely to cover domestic cricket in India. The deal gives Muthoot Fincorp a lever with one of the more prominent sports properties in the country. Her brand is anticipated to be displayed on relevant promotional as well as commercial activities related to match-related during the course of sponsorship.
The development also underlines the continued monetary clout of Indian cricket. While title sponsorships give companies nationwide visibility in stadiums, broadcasts and other official cricket-related platforms, cricket bodies rake it big from such sponsorship revenues.
